Supporting Innovative & Non-Traditional Therapies
At Heart of the Matter Wellness, we believe that comprehensive mental health care often extends beyond traditional talk therapy. To help individuals achieve deeper healing and emotional regulation, we support innovative, non-traditional therapeutic interventions designed to enhance and complement the traditional therapy work you are already doing. Through the support of our generous donors, Heart of the Matter Wellness provides financial assistance to clients seeking to integrate advanced biofeedback and neurofeedback modalities into their mental health care through our approved providers.
Funded Modalities
1. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Biofeedback utilizing HeartMath®
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the beat-to-beat changes in your heart rate, reflecting the balance of your autonomic nervous system. Our approved providers utilize HeartMath® technology—a research-backed system designed to foster physiological coherence (alignment between your heart, mind, and emotions).
- How It Helps: Using HeartMath tools and real-time visual feedback, clients learn specific techniques to shift out of stress or "fight-or-flight" states into a state of coherence, building resilience against anxiety, trauma, and chronic stress.
- Therapeutic Synergy: Pairing HeartMath HRV training with traditional therapy gives clients practical, body-based tools to self-regulate emotions both inside and outside of therapy sessions.
2. PIR / HEG Neurofeedback Services
Passive Infrared (PIR) and Hemoencephalography (HEG) neurofeedback measure real-time blood flow and metabolic activity in specific regions of the brain—most notably the prefrontal cortex.
- How It Helps: By providing real-time feedback on local brain blood flow, PIR/HEG neurofeedback helps "train" executive functioning, focus, emotional self-regulation, and stress recovery.
- Therapeutic Synergy: Boosting prefrontal cortex activation supports cognitive processing, making traditional insight-oriented therapy more effective.
How Financial Assistance Works
- Active Therapy Engagement: Financial aid is designated for clients currently engaging in traditional therapy who want to integrate these supportive interventions.
- Approved Provider Network: Assistance applies directly to services delivered by our approved provider partners who offer specialized HeartMath HRV and PIR/HEG neurofeedback.
- Subsidized Care: Approved grant funding covers a portion of session costs, making these cutting-edge tools accessible regardless of financial status.
